Ms. Gill-Sekhon pursued a career in criminal defense from the start. She earned her undergraduate degree from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, where she doubled majored in Criminology and Psychology. As an undergraduate student, she discovered her passion for criminal defense, and for defending the rights of the accused. Ms. Gill-Sekhon was admitted to the University of Buffalo School of Law on a scholarship, and was awarded her JD degree in 2018.
While in law school, she participated in the Innocence and Justice Project, Prisoners’ Legal Services and Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York. Following graduation, she spent several years handling adult misdemeanor cases and assisting in high level felonies at the Skagit County Public Defender’s Office.
