Do I have to show up to court for a motion to remove a no-contact order?
Generally speaking, it is advisable to be present in court. Its often harder for a judge to deny your request when you are standing in court, in contrast to denying the request of someone who isn’t there.
If you don’t show up, the judge may incorrectly believe that you don’t think the issue is all that important, or you don’t really want the NCO (no-contact order) rescinded. Do your best to appear, but if you can’t, contact opposing counsel and see if he would be willing to reschedule the hearing to a time that is more convenient for you.
